FREDERICKTOWN — David A. Rogers, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at his residence in Fredericktown, just six weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

We mourn his loss, but celebrate his victory. This earth is not our home. He has finished the race and is now home with the Lord.

He was born Sept. 5, 1941, to John and Madeline (Johnson) Rogers in Galion. Dave worked his whole life to win souls for the Lord. Dave and Grace’s ministries included: Welcome Church of Christ in Holmes County; Millwood Church of Christ; Concerned Christian Church in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; Howard Church of Christ; and Marion Road Church of Christ in Bucyrus. He was a member of the New Life Church of Christ in Bellville.

He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Rogers of Fredericktown with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage in July; their six children, John (Patricia) Rogers of Fredericktown, Don (Laura) Rogers of Fredericktown, Debra (Jeff) Bowman of Danville, Scott (Gina) Rogers of Virginia Beach, Betty (Doug) Severns of Danville, and Ron Rogers of Fredericktown; adopted daughter, Iris Way of Florida; nine grandchildren; six great grandkids; a sister, Shirley (Ed) Nichols of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Mary Swihart of Mansfield; along with many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Dave loved woodworking and flower gardening. He taught his children many skills in life and instilled Christian values in them.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill Road). A funeral service giving glory to God for the life of Dave will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at New Life Church of Christ (195 W. Durbin Ave. in Bellville). Richard Snyder Jr. will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery near Johnsville.

Contributions in his memory to assist the family with final expenses (please make checks payable to Snyder Funeral Homes) may be made at his services.

Snyder Funeral Homes is honored to serve Dave’s family and encourage you to share a fond memory or message of condolence to them — and watch his tribute video — at
