MOUNT VERNON — A lifetime passion of riding motorcycles will continue on, but 45 years of selling motorcycles from his salesroom have come to end for Kevin Mishey. The baton was passed on as Mishey officially retired Saturday as owner of Mid-Ohio Suzuki-Honda-Yamaha-Kawasaki, 494 Harcourt Road.

At the age of 12, an uncle brought over a dirt bike to the farm for Mishey to ride. “And 20 minutes later, I was a motorcycle rider for life. I was hooked bad,” laughed Mishey.

By the age of 17, he was selling Hodaka motorcycles out of a garage, sharing space with John Zolman’s automotive business in Fredericktown. Two years later in 1973, he became a business partner with his father, L. Russell Mishey, at the current business location. Business at this time was limited to motorcycles. An inventory of 50 Suzuki and Hodaka cycles was in stock at that time, compared to 400 cycles today.
