MOUNT VERNON — After slumbering its way through the first half, the Fredericktown girls basketball team was in need of a spark.

The Freddies got one in junior Brittany Ehret.

Ehret woke the Freddies with her strong, all-around play in the third quarter, helping them nearly triple their point total from the seven they had scored in the first half. But, the jolt wasn’t quite enough as South Range beat the Freddies 58-32 in the consolation game of the Mount Vernon Holiday Classic.
