MOUNT VERNON — The effort to establish a home for recovery housing, not to be confused with residential treatment, in Mount Vernon is on-going with a community partnership steering committee made up of members from Municipal Court, the Knox County Commissioners, United Way, Mental Health and Recovery and other supporters.

“Recovery housing,” said Jeff Williams, executive director of the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center, “is housing for individuals recovering from drug addiction that provides an alcohol and drug-free living environment, peer support, assistance with obtaining drug addiction services and other drug addiction recovery assistance.”
