DELAWARE — Mount Vernon played Delaware Hayes tough on the Pacers’ home court on Wednesday, taking a one-point halftime lead after a slow first quarter. Hayes, however, raised the offensive tempo in the second half and the Yellow Jackets never caught up, falling 71-61 to their former Ohio Capital Conference rivals.

“First and foremost today the Mount Vernon family tragically lost one of our own in Coach Jon Brown,” Mount Vernon coach Nick Coon said. “Our hearts and thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.
