MOUNT VERNON — New details about the Federally Qualified Health Center, and the grant to fund it, were announced Wednesday at the Knox County Board of Health meeting.

The grant will provide operating funds of $812,500 for January 2017 through March 2018 and $650,000 for the second and third years. Health Commissioner Julie Miller said that 19 program requirements which come with the funding must be met as far as hiring staff and putting policies into place.

“It’s very similar to setting up a new medical and dental practice,” said Miller.
