MOUNT VERNON — As it enters 2017, the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center is poised to expand its efforts at fighting drug addiction. The expansion, part of a strategic plan adopted in October, is designed to meet community needs for responding to a growing and changing problem, said Executive Director Jeff Williams.
Those needs, he explained, are based on establishing a comprehensive continuum of care for addiction services.
Five to seven years ago, he said 65 percent of cases involved alcohol. But in recent years, the problem has been growing and spreading and more often involves opiates.
