STUART, Fla. — Elinor Lucile Stauffer, 88, of Stuart, Fla., passed away Dec. 20, 2016. She was born in 1928 in Gambier, Ohio, to the late Homer and Ruth (Sesser) Houck. Elinor was a cheerleader and a 1946 graduate of Gambier High School. She was raised on a farm in Knox County and Elinor always said, “you can take the girl out of the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the girl.”

She is survived by her children, Anita Louise (Mike) Warner-Starck of Ft. Pierce, Fla., David Allen (Wanda) Warner of Palm Bay, Fla., stepdaughter, Linda Stauffer-Williams of Louisville, Ky., Wilson (Teresa) Warner of Mount Vernon and Robert (Cathie) J. Stauffer of Stuart, Fla. Elinor is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Stauffer, 2007; her brothers, Howard and Harold Houck; and sisters, Mildred Davis, Maxine Page and Jean Neighbarger.

There will be a private family celebration of Elinor’s wonderful life at a later time. Anyone and everyone that met or came into contact with “Ellie” always had a kind word to say about her. She will be sorely missed by her family and all her good friends. Elinor truly was a lady and great mother to all her children.

In lieu of flowers, it would be the family’s wish that you donate to your local hospice.
