MOUNT VERNON — Ten Twin Oak Elementary School students and two first grade teachers are adding some joy this holiday season to Knox County Animal Shelter dogs waiting on their forever home. A variety of snacks, dog food and treats were collected by the first grade teachers and students and presented to the shelter.

“This gives us an opportunity to teach the kids about so many things,” said Kristen Campbell, a first-grade teacher at Twin Oak. “We’re able to discuss about giving back to the community and it’s wonderful the students relate to that.”
