MOUNT VERNON — Online shopping is an increasingly popular option for holiday gift givers, and you can’t deny that it is convenient for the purchaser. It can, however, get a little tricky when the recipient wants to return the present.

The perennial, reliable standard course of action is to repack the item and take it to the closest post office to be weighed and shipped, with the return postage cost borne by the person who wants to return the item.
