DANVILLE — The Danville teacher team of Sue Clarke, Victoria Lambert and Jill Lyons are part of a research project through the Ohio State University, and recently participated in a 2 1/2 day professional development workshop.

The NonFiction Texts in Inquiry-based (NFTI) Science Text Set project teaches instructors, school librarians and administrators how to construct science-themed text sets that are aligned to Ohio’s Learning Standards for Science and Language Arts in an effort to bridge the gap between science and literacy instruction, with the goal of improving student achievement in both areas.

Lambert said text sets are comprised of science trade books and media which are used as tools for encouraging integration of reading and science.
