UTICA — Chris Lackey was sworn in as the newest member of Utica Village Council at the monthly meeting of council Monday evening. Lackey, who grew up in the Utica area and has lived in the village for 16 years, fills the void left by John Stone who resigned. Lackey took his oath while being sworn in by Utica Mayor Lester Grennell.
“I’d just like to try and make the village a better place to live, maybe get more things in here and get people to visit the town,” said Lackey.
As council was attempting to make a decision for employee insurance coverage for 2017 and 2018, a presentation was made by Gary Walters of Rinehart, Walters and Danner Insurance on the renewal package they were offering the village. Another bid had also been submitted by the Public Entity Pool.
