FREDERICKTOWN — Charles Koelbl, 92, of Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, with his loving family by his side.

He was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Appleton, Wisc., to the late Peter and Ester Koelbl.

Charles was a 1942 St. Vincent de Paul High School graduate and a lifelong member of the church. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucy (Durbin) Koelbl; his five children, Debi Wilson of Reynoldsburg, Mike (Lori) Koelbl of Charleston, W.Va., Dave (Cindy Stouse) Koelbl of Fredericktown, Robert (Penny) Koelbl of Mount Vernon and Lynn (John) Melick of Fredericktown; a sister, Dorothy Koelbl of Henderson, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Harold; and two sisters, Ruth and Audrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Vincent Nguyen as celebrant. Burial will follow services in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council. Friends are invited after the services to Lasater Funeral Home’s Community Room for a time of food and fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, 17702 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
