MOUNT VERNON — A plan to change the entrance to the Plaza Building to allow for security at a single entrance has been chosen, Mayor Richard Mavis reported at his weekly press briefing Friday. Now the city will go about applying for a state grant to cover most of the cost, estimated to be about $550,000.

In the meantime, Parks, Buildings and Public Lands Superintendent Dave Carpenter will meet next week with two contractors to get estimates for modifying the Municipal Court Room entrance to allow the installation of the new magnetometer and X-ray machine the court has obtained.
