CENTERBURG — For the holiday season the Centerburg Joint Recreation District is offering a special event that kids and families are sure to enjoy. Back by popular demand from last year, the third annual “Polaris Express” and Meet Santa is a special event presented as a gift from CJRD to the community for families and children to help enjoy the spirit of the season.

The program begins at 3 p.m., Sunday, in the Town Hall above the Centerburg Library at 49 E. Main St. with a showing of the wonderful Christmas classic “Polar Express.” Just as in the movie, children can wear their pajamas and will enjoy cookies and cocoa served by “waiters” during the movie. Families joining the event will be greeted by a lantern-toting “conductor” who will hand out tickets to ride the fantasy Christmas “train.”

Santa will make a surprise visit and present an “I believe” Christmas bell to children after they share their Christmas wishes on Santa’s lap.

“Polar Express” has become a modern Christmas classic for kids of all ages,” said Gary Moore, program consultant for CJRD.

“This is an opportunity to plan a special day with the kids in the midst of an often too busy season. Who knows, maybe even a character from the movie like the hobo may drift through the shadows during the movie.”
