MOUNT VERNON — Peoples Bank Foundation, a nonprofit corporation formed to make donations in Peoples Bank market areas, announced it has donated a total of $46,000 to 21 regional United Way offices throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. The United Way of Knox County recently received $1,000 to support the organization’s ongoing operational and program needs.

“It is our honor and privilege to support our community by providing assistance to the United Way,” said Holly Hunter, Peoples Bank Licking County Branch Manager. “This grant will better the lives of individuals throughout our communities.”

United Way is the leadership and support organization for a network of nearly 1,800 community-based offices in 45 countries and territories. The goal of United Way is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. The organization believes that living “united” means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.

Since the inception of Peoples Bank Foundation in 2003, the foundation has donated more than $244,500 to United Way regional locations.

Peoples Bank Foundation contributions focus on charitable giving in four major areas: community investment and economic development, youth and education, human services programs that improve the social needs of low- to moderate-income communities and individuals, and arts and culture. Organizations receiving foundation grants must meet those requirements and serve the markets where Peoples Bank currently has offices.
