FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown girls basketball team tried to go toe-to-toe with the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference’s best on Friday.

The Freddies got in some good punches, but in the end, the height and depth of Cardington wore them down and the Pirates went on to a 70-43 victory at Fredericktown.

The Freddies (1-3 overall, 0-3 MOAC) came out slugging, staying right with the Pirates (5-1, 4-0) through the first six minutes of the game. But, the Pirates’ press took its toll and before the Freddies knew what hit them, a 12-10 game turned into a 23-11 deficit.
