On Friday, these and other volunteers were going door-to-door in Centerburg asking residents if they needed a detector. For residents that were not at home, a door knob flyer was left with the number to call 1-844-207-4509 for a free detector. The Red Cross has an nationwide free-detector program and, starting in January, will be in Mount Vernon.
