MOUNT VERNON — David Lee Cross, 59, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, from injuries sustained following a motor vehicle accident.

He was born April 8, 1957, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Earl Cross and Loretta Weber. David was a 1975 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing softball and hunting mushrooms. David was employed at TRW and was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, of over 36 years, Darlene (Seavolt) Cross; three daughters, Erika (Jeremiah) Sargent, Alisha Cross, Darcy (Patrick) Riley; his son, David Lee Cross II; seven grandchildren, Dakota Waite, Kobe Cross, Jenna Riley, Jaylyn Riley, Teagan Riley, Landon Sargent, Liam Sargent; two brothers, Ricky Cross and Randy Cross; his sister Mary Jo (Paul) Kindler; and his stepmother, Jeanine Cross.

Friends may call Monday, Dec. 12, from 2-4 p.m., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will take place on Tuesday in Mound View Cemetery beginning at 2 p.m.
