MOUNT VERNON — James H. Frye, 67, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Feb. 4, 1949, to the late William and Eveline (Burrows) Frye.

James worked for the former Continental Can in Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 760, Mount Vernon, the NRA and the Honky Tonk Bar Association. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing euchre and most of all; he loved spending time with his family.

James is survived by his daughters, Wendy (David) Ferenbaugh of Howard and Amy (Duane) Willey of Howard; grandchildren, Andrew (Erin) Springer, Devin (Lisa) Wears and Dylan Wears; great-grandsons, Shawn Wears and Brayden Springer; brothers, Roger Frye of Howard, Carl (Susan) Frye of Newark and Daniel (Kim) Frye of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a grandson, Damon Springer.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of James at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with James’ funeral expenses.
