MOUNT VERNON — The Knox Soil & Water Conservation District presented its $1,000 agriculture/natural resources scholarship to Milan Pozderac at its banquet Wednesday. He is a graduate of Fredericktown High School and is now a freshman at Ohio State University, where he plans to complete an environmental science degree.

Honored as the top cooperator of the year for the numerous conservation practices implemented on the farm with the help of the SWCD, was Wayne Buskirk of Buskirk Farm. Projects have included installing thousands of feet of subsurface drainage for soil water management, nine grassed waterways, three stone structures for overall protection on waterways, a water and sediment control basin, and an agrichemical handling facility to protect against spilling liquid fertilizer material.
