MOUNT VERNON — Dogwood Blossoms Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, invited women and girls from the area to join them this fall in rehearsing and performing for holiday events. The Holiday Chorus performed during the Christmas Walk and will sing today and Dec. 13 at several area nursing homes.
The public is invited to a performance of Christmas music on Sunday, at 4 p.m., at First Baptist Church, located at the corner of South Edgewood Road and Gambier Road.
Dogwood Blossoms Chorus recently welcomed Cindy Dils and Janet Thompson into the group.
Dils sings baritone and resides with her husband, Dennis, in Westerville. They are the parents of three grown children and have two grandchildren. She works in the finance department for an architecture and engineering firm when she isn’t singing four-part harmony with the chorus.
Thompson sings lead and was a 15-year member of Ohio Heartland Chorus in Delaware before she moved to Mount Vernon to be near family. She has three grown children and is retired from Big Bear.
Women of all ages who love to sing are invited to visit a rehearsal and receive more information about the organization.
After taking a few Tuesdays off for holiday performances, regular rehearsals will resume on Jan. 3, 2017. Visitors are welcome on most Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road in Mount Vernon.
