UTICA — A step into the next generation of consumable energy is being taken by The Energy Co-Op, as a large array of solar panels were recently installed near Utica. This project will give local electric customers the option of going solar.

Licking Rural Electric, dba The Energy Co-Op, the electric service center at Utica, is initiating an optional program for customers, called OurSolar, to utilize the service of solar energy along with their conventional electric energy.

An array of 456 solar panels currently fill a field at the north end of the LRE property on Ohio 13, just south of Utica, comprising a 150-kilowatt system. The addition of any more solar panels would depend on the amount of local participation in the program.
