CENTERBURG — Janette L. Saunders, 79, of Centerburg, passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 1, 2016, at Centerburg Pointe in Centerburg.

She was born Oct. 5, 1937, in Porter Township, to the late Clinton A. and Lola I. (McCloskey) Metzger. She was a 1955 graduate of Big Walnut High School and a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ. Janette was a retired bank teller with First-Knox Bank with 20 years of service.

Janette enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Dogwood Blossoms Chapter in Mount Vernon of which she was a charter member and lifelong member. She enjoyed singing in the chorus and travel. Janette’s proudest achievement was her marriage of 59 years, raising her four daughters and her family. Janette enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.

She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, William “Bill” Saunders; daughters, Donna (Larry) Dowis of Centerburg, Debra (John Randall) Thompson of Fredericktown, Darlene Saunders of Centerburg, Dianne (Dale) Schoenfelt of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Johnson of Sunbury, Norma (Lloyd) Lane of Cardington, Mary Wilson of Mount Gilead, and Sandra Metzger of Sunbury.

Preceded in death by grandson, Jason Thompson

Friends may call Sunday, from 2-5 p.m., at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Monday, at 11 a.m., with Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating. Interment in the Eastview Cemetery.
