MOUNT VERNON — The Ariel Foundation has announced two recipients of the James P. Buchwald Engineering Scholarships for the 2016/2017 academic year. As Knox County residents when graduating from high school, holding a 3.0 grade-point average or above in an accredited college or university engineering school, both Alan Noble Orr and Matthew Grant McDaniel have been awarded a $5,000 scholarship.

Orr is the son of Joseph and Katrinka Orr of Centerburg and attends the Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis, Ind., seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in motorsports engineering.

McDaniel is the son of Thomas and Renee McDaniel of Howard, and attends the University of Toledo pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
