MOUNT VERNON — Rob Gross walked away from his postgame talk with his players while wearing a smile that showed relief and exhaustion.

“This is great,” the Mount Vernon baseball coach said.

His team had just finished yet another thrilling comeback victory. This time, the Yellow Jackets erased a five-run deficit with an offensive show in the sixth inning to stun the visiting New Albany Eagles, 8-7, on Senior Night.
