MOUNT VERNON — Pets in Knox County will have a better chance to survive an emergency situation, thanks to the efforts of the Knox County Humane Society.

Monday, the humane society presented 16 oxygen mask sets to Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chad Christopher for distribution to all of the fire departments in Knox County. The masks were paid for with money raised at the “Paws on the Porch” fund-raiser last year.
