MOUNT VERNON — Thursday afternoon the Knox County Board of Commissioners informed the News that the volunteer program at the dog shelter has been suspended.

Knox County Dog Warden Jordan Bernard was recently nipped by a dog while he was examining it to see if it was neutered after a family had expressed interest in adopting him. The dog is now serving a 10-day quarantine. January 16, 2014
