MOUNT VERNON — A grant request, construction projects and a D-Day commemoration event topped the agenda when the Knox County Airport Authority gathered Monday evening for its monthly meeting.

The airport authority is in the process of a fence installation project around the perimeter of the airport. President Terry Divelbiss explained that there has been a problem with deer on the airport runway, which interferes with planes. The $6,623 project is being paid for with 90 percent federal grant money and 10 percent local funds.
