FREDERICKTOWN — No boys were allowed when middle school students from Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown, Mount Vernon and St. Vincent de Paul came together on March 11 for Girls in Science Day.

Held in Fredericktown schools’ administration building and coordinated by Fredericktown High School chemistry/physics instructor Carmen Dixon, the science fest featured hands-on workshops as well as a panel discussion by women in science. Prior to Girls in Science Day, several middle schoolers submitted essays on a science-related topic and the top three essayists were announced following lunch on March 11.
