HOWARD — Joe Ulrey is coming home.

The 2005 Highland High School grad has been named the new head football coach at East Knox.

“It’s good to be back around family and friends,” Ulrey said.

Ulrey officially takes the job starting today. He is a 2009 graduate of Denison, where he earned two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a linebacker. He went on to coach under Chad Carpenter for a year at Highland before taking jobs at Kenyon, Denison and Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky. In every school, Ulrey was a linebackers coach or defensive specialist.
