MOUNT VERNON — For three years, Jett Swetland has become synonymous with Highland Scots basketball.

Swetland has led his team in scoring, rebounds and blocks every year since he was a freshman. This year, his play was good enough to earn him All-Area Boys Basketball Player of the Year from the Mount Vernon News sportswriters.

Swetland averaged a double-double for the first time in his career, wrapping up the regular season with 19.7 points per game (second in the area) and 13.9 rebounds (first in the area). His 279 regular-season rebounds is an all-time school record. His 36 steals also led the Scots. Late in the season, as a junior, Swetland scored his 1,000th point.
