MOUNT VERNON — The city will give the police chief’s test again on May 13, Mayor Richard Mavis reported Friday.

The same two officers, Capt. George Hartz and Sgt. Roger Monroe will again be the only officers to take the test, which is open to the captain and sergeants.

An officer has to have been in his or her present rank for a year when a test for promotion is given. Scott McKnight, the newest sergeant, was officially promoted May 27, so he will be two weeks short of a year when the test is given.
