MOUNT VERNON — A fire at the Advantage Ag and Equipment Company at 425 Columbus Road was confined to a corner of the service area Wednesday night. The Mount Vernon Fire Department received the alarm at 11 p.m., and when they arrived, fire was showing through the roof in the back east corner of the building.

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chad Christopher said the firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in 15 minutes. The roof and interior in the corner of the service area has major damage. The department attacked the fire with an engine and ladder trucks and 11 firefighters. They also had a medic and command vehicle.
