MOUNT VERNON — An update on the Curtis Hotel and Mazza’s Restaurant demolitions was given by City Engineer Cameron Keaton when the Mount Vernon Dilapidated Buildings Commission met Tuesday morning in council chambers. Demolition at the Curtis Hotel is to begin March 10, according to Keaton, as an asbestos abatement was recently completed.

Paperwork has been signed to begin work at Mazza’s Restaurant. Keaton expects for asbestos abatement to begin next week with demolition scheduled to be complete by May 17.
