BLADENSBURG — Hundreds of people turned out Saturday for the auction of the contents of the Bladensburg school building. Many were out-of-town buyers and many were Bladensburg alumni taking the opportunity for one last look around, to reminisce and perhaps find a fitting piece of memorabilia to cherish.

The auction started in the gym, moved to the cafeteria and spread throughout the classroom areas in the buildings. The modular building was also on the auction block.

Superintendent Steve Larcomb said today the district was pleased with the sale results and appreciates the community support. The auction, after expenses, raised approximately $30,500 for the general fund. The modular brought in $10,000 itself and the industrial stove sold for $3,250.
