MOUNT VERNON — Funding continues to pour in for Ariel-Foundation Park, according to Melanie Bolender, fundraising committee chairwoman.

She explained to Mount Vernon City Council on Monday night that in mid-January $4.5 million had been donated or pledged toward the park project. Since then, an additional $100,000 has been raised.

“For some of the large donations — the very significant donations — we offer companies and individuals an opportunity to have their name associated with that item,” Bolender said.

In addition to the pavilion naming rights already acquired by First-Knox National Bank, three more agreements have been made.
