SPARTA — For most of the first 24 minutes on Friday, it looked like the Highland Scots basketball team was in trouble.

In the waning seconds of the third quarter, however, the Scots reached down deep and played some of their best basketball of the season.

Down by four points late in the third, the Scots seized control of the boards and ran away with a 68-55 victory over the visiting Linden-McKinley Panthers in their Division II sectional semifinal matchup.
