MOUNT VERNON — Two local teenagers reported missing earlier this week have been located and are safe.

Mount Vernon Police Department interim chief Capt. George Hartz told the News that Kayla Scarbury, 14, and Branden Gamble, 16, were picked up by a Connecticut State Police officer around 7 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle Gamble was driving reportedly broke down on a Connecticut highway.

The MVPD received a tip Wednesday that the two youth could be in Connecticut and made contact with the CSP.
