Yellow Jackets boys' and girls' win home invitational track meet

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets boys' and girls' track and field teams picked up wins at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. | Coach Kathy Thayer

The Mount Vernon track and field teams both took first place at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on May 3, beating out Newark, East Knox and Utica in that respective order for both boys’ and girls’ events.

Boys highlights:

100 meters: Maddox Baker was second with a time of 11.66.

200 meters: Cole Wilson took third place with a time of 23.87.

400 meters: Ethan Young was on top in the 400 meters with a time of 52.40.

800 meters: Logan Eggert won the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.56. Zane Barber took second with a time of 2:02.17 and Landon Rush was third with a time of 2:09.05.

1600 meters: Owen Petrie was seventh with a time of 5:13.09.

3200 meters: Gavin Andrews took fifth with a time of 11:13.72.

110 meter hurdles: Hunter Looney was second with a time of 16.08.

300 meter hurdles: Looney took second, clocking in at 43.91.

4x100 meters: The team consisting of Looney, Darrin Monahan, Ayden Kennedy and Maddox Brewer, clocked in at 45.23 for third.

4x200 meters: Mount Vernon took first with a time of 1:32.90. The team included Looney, Kennedy, Wilson and Young.

4x400 meters: The Yellow Jackets had a time of 3:33.03 for first. The team was Wilson, Brady Wiles, Eggert and Young.

4x800 meters: Mount Vernon clocked in at 9:09.01 for second place. The team included Luke Hubbard, Wiles, Joey Butts and Rush.

Shot put: Dakota Wagoner was first with a toss of 38 feet, 11 inches.

Discus: Luke Mullins was second with a distance of 140 feet, 11 inches.

High jump: Wiles took the top spot with a leap of six feet.

Pole vault: Ben Fitzpatrick was third with a height of 10 feet.

Long jump: Sami Lacksonen was fourth with a leap of 18 feet, 11.50 inches.

Girls highlights:

100 meters: Amaris Middleton was second with a time of 13.02. Nadia Nougi took third with a time of 13.43.

200 meters: Middleton was first with a time of 26.34. Nougi was third with a time of 27.90.

400 meters: Sydney Statler was fourth with a time of 1:05.49.

800 meters: Megan Packard took first with a time of 2:30.85. Lucy Rush was second at 2:31.70 and Hannah Hofferberth was third with a time of 2:40.02.

1600 meters: Elli Salvucci was first with a time of 5:27.74.

3200 meters: Ainsley Bonaudi was third with a time of 12:54.14.

110 meter hurdles: Marissa Rutter took first with a time of 14.84.

300 meters hurdles: Rutter was first with a time of 47.31.

4x100 meters: Mount Vernon was first with a time of 50.49. The team included Rutter, Nougi, Middleton and Savanah Rose.

4x200 meters: The Yellow Jackets were second with a time of 1:54.43. They included Statler, Nougi, Rose and Makayla Pugh.

4x400 meters: Mount Vernon’s team of Rose, Packard, Salvucci and Rutter was first with a time of 4:20.71.

4x800 meters: The team consisting of Addison Barber, Ava Burson, Hofferberth and Lucy Rush was first with a time of 10:47.56.

Shot put: Grace Hauke was second with a toss of 27 feet, five inches.

Discus: Quinn Hardy was third with a toss of 88 feet, three inches.

High jump: Cora Rickett was second with a leap of four feet, six inches. Elizabeth Lebold was third with a height of four feet, four inches.

Pole vault: Kennedy Howard was first with a height of nine feet, six inches.

Long jump: Lebold was third with a distance of 14 feet, 6.5 inches.
