Pizza Cottage has officially opened its doors in Mount Vernon.

The pizza joint initiated a soft opening with takeout services from Jan. 20-23 before fully opening its dining room on Jan. 24.

Chris Ramsey, the Chief Operating Officer of Pizza Cottage, expressed the warm reception the restaurant has received from the Mount Vernon community.

”The reception has been outstanding. We've had lines at the drive-through to pick up pizza and full dining rooms pretty much every day since we opened,” Ramsey told Mount Vernon News.

With the opening of the Mount Vernon location, Pizza Cottage, with roots dating back to 1972 in Carroll, Ohio, now boasts its 11th brick-and-mortar location.

The Pizza Cottage in Mount Vernon is owned and operated by Lancaster Wings which also owns the Buffalo Wild Wings franchise in Mount Vernon, one of 10 owned by the company.

In addition the company owns the Pink Cricket Restaurant in Lancaster.

Ramsey, who is originally from Mansfield, noted that the decision to expand to Mount Vernon was driven by the town's reputation as a good food market with untapped potential.

He highlighted the community's involvement in spreading the word about Pizza Cottage, especially through Mount Vernon's foodie network on social media.

Ramsey also mentioned the positive response to the restaurant's décor and ambiance, noting that they are considering some minor rebranding and remodels for other locations based on the success of the Mount Vernon branch.

"We love our other ones, but this one, I think we've kind of hopefully captured a little magic in with the decor," Ramsey said. "It just looks cool, looks local and feels less like a restaurant, but it's just more comfortable for people to sit down and just have a good time.”

With approximately 50 employees, Pizza Cottage is actively looking to add more staff, including servers.

Ramsey emphasized the restaurant's commitment to staying community-connected and locally involved.

He also highlighted the availability of a party room for events and fundraisers and mentioned their commitment to giving back to the community through charity.

“It's fundraisers, school connections. We specifically built this location with a nice party room that can hold 35 to 50 people, depending. So if there's parties, if there's groups we do have charity for the bounce backs where if they come in 15% of the sales goes back to the organization,” Ramsey said.

"We think we give a very fair value for a great product. So come give us a try. If you haven't. We think you'll like it," he said.
