It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce “Chris” Christine Leonard, age 83 of Centerburg, Ohio. Chris passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was be missed dearly by her family.
Chris was born October 26, 1939, to John A. and Bessie Carter Stallard of Clinchport, Virginia. She was a graduate of Rye Cove High School and one of twelve children. They remained a close family and shared years of love and friendship.
Chris met her husband, Earl Leonard in 1963 in Ohio and they were married on August 24, 1963, and enjoyed 58 years of marriage before Earl passed away from cancer in 2021. They had two children, Brent A. Leonard of Fredericktown, Ohio and Tara Leonard Tullos of Cardington, Ohio.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl L. Leonard, parents, John A. Stallard and Bessie Carter Stallard; her siblings, James "Jim" Stallard, Nelle Stallard, Lois Stallard Carter, June Stallard Starnes, Vonda Stallard Davis, Leonard Stallard and Verna Stallard Dorton.
She is survived by her son Brent (Tammy) Leonard. Her daughter Tara (Douglas) Tullos. Grandchildren Brandon, Benjamin (Katelyn), Josie Tullos, and Zac (Erica) Seagle. Great-grandchildren Hunter, Jaxson, Kolson Williams, and Ada Seagle. Chris is also survived by her siblings Jack Stallard, Larry (Jan) Stallard, Darrell (Ginger) Stallard, Patsy Nunley and Pauline Stallard and many loved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was be held in the East View Cemetery (357 Hartford Ave. Centerburg, Ohio 43011) on Friday, August 4, 2023, beginning at 1 p.m. with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to North Central Hospice 17700 Coshocton Ave, Mt. Vernon, Ohio 43050, an organization that she felt passionate about.
