MOUNT VERNON – James Andrew “Jim” Laymon, 76, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1945, in Mount Vernon to the late Howard Laymon and G. Irene (Horn) Fowler. Jim was employed at North American Rockwell in Newark for over 35 years. He also, at that time, served as the Union Steward for UAW. He loved playing golf. Jim was a veteran, serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his son Andy (Raechel Thompson) Laymon; his half-brother Dick (Shirley) Laymon; his stepbrother George (Jean) Fowler; and his half-sister Judith Tubbs.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son Benjamin Laymon; his brother Ronald Laymon; and his stepfather Harold Fowler.
Friends may call on Friday, June 17, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home from 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating.
