DANVILLE – Margene Eloise Albright passed away peacefully at the Ohio Eastern Star Home surrounded by her loving family.

Margene was born on Dec. 10, 1925, to Guy and Ethel Awwiller of Danville. She was a graduate of Danville High School and went on to become the first Certified Professional Secretary in Knox County. She worked at Cooper Bessemer where she was secretary to the company president. Here she met the love of her life, Albert. They were married 41 years before his passing in 2000.

Margene was a 62-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women’s Association and the Hot Meals program. She also planned and cooked hundreds of meals for the church youth in the 70s for the Youth Club Program. Margene enjoyed her bridge clubs, traveling and being with her many friends. She cherished the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Nagy; a son, Alan Albright; and her dear granddaughter Annie Nagy. She was loved by nieces and nephews Steve, Kisha, Kade and Kai Kempf, Randy and Whitney Waters; and special friends Sharon and Linda Cookman.

Margene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Albright; a brother, Donald Awwiller; a sister, Kathleen Waters; and two nieces, Cheryl Kempf and Linda Waters.

Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road. A funeral service will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon. Pastor Ross Slaughter will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Memorial contributions in Margene’s name may be made to the Knox County Foundation, 101 E. Gambier St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, toward the Albright/Nagy Family Community Impact Fund to support urgent and emerging needs in our community.
