MOUNT VERNON — Daniel Lee Cochran, 29, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at the Arlington Care Center in Newark. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on July 1, 1984.
Daniel loved all sports, especially baseball and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds. He was also a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan and loved his trip to Columbus to watch WWE wrestling. Daniel’s other hobbies were collecting baseball cards as a kid and more recently, video sports games. He treasured his nature outings, but most of all loved being around his family. The family also attends the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon.
Despite having Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, Daniel maintained a positive outlook on life and was an inspiration to others.
Daniel is survived by his parents, Cynthia (Scot) Long; sisters, Olivia Long and Christina (Justin) Watts; brothers, Casey Long and Andrew Long; and grandparents, Mary Moy and Donald (Jane) Long.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Cochran.
Calling hours will be observed Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Scott Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
