MOUNT VERNON — Kathryn Joann Phillips, 74, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Country Court Nursing Home, in Mount Vernon, with her family by her side.

She was born March 15, 1940, in Knox County, to the late John and Vivian (Vilfer) Smith. Kathryn enjoyed the time she spent with her friends and cherished every moment she spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband, John Phillips; three daughters, Christina (Randy) Brown, Connie Tiller and Debbie Lonzo; her son, Michael (Jill) Phillips; five grandchildren, Jeff Coons, Angela Coons, Jessica Lonzo, Adam Phillips and Brent Phillips; three great-grandchildren, Skylar Coons, Rylee Coons and Hunter Mead; two brothers, George (Betty) Smith and Bob (Gwen) Smith; her lifelong friend, Pearl Melease; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Rinard and her brother, Edward Smith.

Friends may call Saturday, from 2-3 p.n., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow beginning at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Andrew Angel officiating.
