MOUNT VERNON — Marilyn Jane Eversole, 80, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday April 8, 2014, in her Mount Vernon home, the victim of a homicide. Marilyn was born Aug. 15, 1933, the daughter of Leon and Bernice (Vastine) Stedman, and had spent most of her lifetime in the Springfield, Ohio, area before moving to Mount Vernon in 2009.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca (Don) Jones of Jackson, Mich.; her son, Steven (Tamara) Algren of New Carlisle; her daughter, Angela (Jack) Cunningham of Mount Vernon; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Judy Stedman of Springfield, Ohio; and several health care aides with whom she had become great friends.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Algren and Russell Algren; and her brother, Joe Stedman.

To follow Marilyn’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. The family will observe a private service in Springfield at a later date. Following cremation, her ashes will be dedicated to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
