MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy V. Gardner, 92, of Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Country Club Nursing Home. She was born March 21, 1921, in Greer, to the late Clarence and Anna (Juergens) Stumbaugh.
Dorothy was a homemaker and gave her husband and daughters her undivided attention. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star in Mount Vernon. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles and sewing in her younger years. She was a very happy and fun loving person that loved to be around her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Diane Bash, Doris (Richard) Ressler and Patricia (Ed Keough) Jeffries; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-step-grandchildren; brother, Delmer Stumbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert “Bob” Gardner; and a sister, Ruth Peoples; and brother, Blaine Stumbaugh.
Friends may call Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., with a funeral service Wednesday, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Thom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
