HEATH — William L. “Bill” Morey, 66, of Sequoia Lane, Heath, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at his home. He was born Feb. 13, 1948, in Mount Vernon, to the late Robert and Kathryn (Conkle) Morey. Bill retired in 1991 after 23 years of service in the U.S. Navy. Upon retiring from the Navy, Bill worked until 2011 as a service tech for Lincare in Newark.

He was a member of AmVets Post 95, Fleet Reserve Association and the Howard United Methodist Church. In his free time, Bill enjoyed cheering on his beloved Buckeyes, or watching NASCAR and Indy racing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cheryl (Black) Morey; his children, Heather (Donald Jr.) Kemp of Chesapeake, Va., Heidi (Robert Jr.) Culver of Heath, and Gavin (Rebekah) Morey of Newark; seven grandchildren, Ashlyn Kemp, Joshua Kemp, Dakota Culver, Skylar Culver, Dylan Culver; Giffin Morey and Gianna Morey; a brother, James (Judi) Morey of Mount Vernon; a sister, Janet Morey Fisher of Reynoldsburg; three stepgranddaughters and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Robert Caw Jr. will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
