MOUNT VERNON — Margaret Eileen Eaton, 93, of East High Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was born June 27, 1920, in Amity, to the late Robert Clyde and Eva May (Harris) Ransom. Margaret retired in 1963 after 15 years of serving as manager of the Omar Bakery in Mount Vernon. She attended Hopewell United Methodist Church.
She had served as past chief and deputy of the Gambier Temple 611 Pythian Sisters. She was also a member of Ann Hill Chapter 81 Order of Eastern Star, Pleasant Grange and Tops 393. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Dick) Lamb of Fredericktown and Richard (Vickie) Eaton of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren, Hugh (Kathy) Lamb Jr., William (Roxanne) Lamb, Thomas (Teresa) Lamb, Jon Eaton and Megan (Matt) Wolfe; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Eaton; a sister, Viola (Peg) Walker; and two brothers, Ronald Ransom and Dale Ransom.
Friends may call Monday, March 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be made to the Pythian Sister Temple 611 in Gambier, Hospice of Knox County or Hopewell United Methodist Church, and can be left at the funeral home.
